CTS Architects has designed the Judicial Building Manresa ventilated facade polymer concrete. The study Cinnamond-Torrent-Sala Architects (Architects CTS) has projected the Judicial Building Manresa in Barcelona using ULMA ventilated facade Polymer Concrete.
The project, located on a site which conditioned its design as it is in a rocky leap over the river Cardener, was met with sobriety and emphasis given the importance of designing a building that represents justice. Architects needed for the specific dimensions of front plate and a special color that resembled natural stone in their chosen project. The ULMA team adapted the measures of the plates and created a special stone color with ocher spots. Also, special blades designed perforated plates to cover the building's ventilation necesiades. As for the texture slate, to break the uniformity of the facade, was designed with some of the cutting plates placed in the opposite direction, producing a special effect on the texture of the facade, as the plates with the grain tilted to the left appear darker than the plates tilted to the right.
According Antoni says Chamber CTS Architects, the team gave Polymer Concrete ULMA response to the needs of the project in terms of textures and colors, and developed the process of making the front steps with great precision. "It's really important that ULMA offer a complete service for supply and installation of the facade and in that sense we are very satisfied. The turnkey service is very interesting. " In principle, the material requirements for ventilated facade project was the natural stone. However, we considered the possibility of using polymer concrete and examining the advantages and disadvantages of each material the architects finally decided to use polymer concrete, and that price is better positioned.
addition, the polymer concrete facade needs a much lower maintenance cost with good result, a fact which was decisive in making the decision. The polymer concrete, being a waterproof material, does not absorb dirt and cleaning can be performed easily with soap and water.
