Catalonia Construction Ventilated Facades Art

ULMA Polymer Concrete has an innovative design of facade ventilated, developed by the architect Lucio Alberto Martin from sketches by the artist Luis Feito.
in the Madrid suburb of San Sebastian de los Reyes has made the lining of the facade of the Municipal Centre.

"The idea of putting some blocks on the ventilated facade emerged teamwork developed by the architect Alberto Martin of Lucio and the sculptor and painter Luis Feito, founder of Grupo El Paso and a key figure in contemporary English art. "

SPC for the work:

Project: Municipal Centre.
Location: San Sebastian de los Reyes (Madrid)
Completion date: July 2006.
Architect: Alberto Martín de Lucio. Making
ventilated facade: Alberto Martín de Lucio, Luis Feito, ULMA Polymer Concrete.
Promoter: Municipality of San Sebastian de los Reyes.
Construction Company: Begar SA
Built area: 5,000 m2.
facade material: polymer concrete plates (west side library building), ceramic brick (other library building facades) and layer mortar (building facades classrooms)

The building:

global perception of the building for Municipal Training Center is constructed as a series of volumes, with contrasts and balances.
The black cube almost perfect, the tallest, is contrasted by the lower white prism, separated by recessed access acting as a joint that articulates the union. In turn, a wall covering is the unifying element.
applications are also differentiated. The cube, whose image is symbolic, for it is chosen for action by Luis Feito groups the hall, exhibition halls, library and outdoor auditorium. In the prism of a more pragmatic, classrooms and workshops are distributed.
The environment of the building complements its formal and functional understanding, limiting access to plantations of trees and tours with bands marking grass, shrubland and topsoil.

The facade and cubes:

The idea:

Luis Feito was enthusiastic about the idea of a large-scale performance on the facade of the Training Centre. Collaboration with the architect of the project was intense, with exchanges of ideas in the artist's studio until the final definition of the proposal. From the first moment
Feito dismissed the idea of using ventilated facade as a basis for a new painting. Rather, their interest was focused on the contrast between the two architectural volumes and proposed building exercise sculpture, in which certain parts of the enclosure is separated from it by creating a three dimensional effect, with different textures of the base on which to fly.

Implementation:

The material selected for the main facade of the library building has been the polymer concrete parts black with variable formats between 180x90 and 30x90 cm. Its uniqueness is based on three-dimensional effect achieved by building on the closing of cubic volumes flown to the design of Luis Feito. Has selected a satin finish for the main plane of the facade, with details minionda plate under the skylight, and glossy for cubes. This combination of textures helps to highlight the interplay of volume, with its lights and shadows.

The biggest technical challenge was the completion of five faces of the cubes, flying 11 or 20 cm above the surface of the enclosure. Each of the elements had to be manufactured individually, placing it in position on a supporting structure supported by the main structure of the ventilated facade with hidden fastening solutions tailored to each case. Each cube would fit perfectly into the front and stay plumb with the rest of the volumes coplanar.

The polymer concrete was an unknown material to address optional, but the continued support of the technical-commercial ULMA Polymer Concrete in the search for solutions and the flexibility and reliability of its proposals have managed to keep him in mind for future projects. The material properties , beauty of tone and competitive price, have tipped the balance in favor of ULMA, although others had shuffled previously cut materials such as steel and natural stone.

Architect: Architect

School of Architecture of Madrid, it gets its first award in 1992, two years before graduating. Since then, he has supported liberal career women, which include highly symbolic buildings, to his work as editor of books on architecture and taught at the Polytechnic University of Madrid. It is also an architect committed to the art, which has managed to involve in the design of some of his most representative works from great artists such as Don Luis Feito and large-scale action on the front of the Municipal Training Centre in San Sebastián de los Reyes (Madrid), one of the last contests in which Lucio Alberto Martin has won.

Honored Artist:

Luis Feito participation in this project has been a tribute to his work and his work. Among the awards he has received cite his appointment in 1993 as Commander of the Order of Arts and Letters in France, and in 1998, as a member of the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando and Gold Medal of Fine Arts. Concrete Polymer Optical Effect in Polymer Concrete Ventilated Facades

ULMA
presents a design innovator Ventilated Façade, developed by architects Joaquín Gómez Caro, Alberto Miño Pérez, José Sánchez-Pamplona Garcia and Jose Juan Sanchez Pedraza.
in Cordoba, in a residential area 10 minutes from the city railway station has made the lining of the facade of the building "Atlantic" with the system of ventilated facades ULMA.

The uniqueness of this work is achieved through the texture of the plates. We used the model "minionda" , whose design includes volumes on plates, simulating waves of 1 mm. thick. Four models have been combined different plate, with the provision of waves in different positions:
vertical, horizontal, diagonal right and diagonal left. By placing in a study has achieved a singular optical effect, even having used the same color on all plates, you get a visual movement effect, the building will change depending on the light will be reflected on and depending on time of day, as the season where we are, the ventilated façade varies.

Different formats plate ventilated facade used range from 130 to 180 cm. long plate, and between 62-65 cm. wide.

"What is more surprising is that using the same tone on all plates, the texture is changing shades of color appear to use various shades of the same range."

New spaces polymer concrete slab

ULMA Polymer Concrete presents a new "tone solution" in its wide range of colors and textures of plates system ventilated facades.

Since the momentum of experience in bringing innovation, ULMA technical team offers the market a new message board that reflects the richness and heritage of the great masters such as Chillida in a continuous exercise to obtain lines of force, gravity and space.

coexistence After several tests of materials, color tests and durability studies subjecting the material to accelerated aging, the result has led to the development of a polymer concrete slab with a rough surface on the stone looks sympathetic and metallic formal appearances lightweight materials.

"It raised the need to prepare a polymer concrete slab with a special tone. The challenge was to finish particularized "

solutions formats, colors and textures of Polymer Concrete ULMA for Ventilated Facades , are many, has smooth textures and slate, finished with satin or bright plate formats from 25 x 25 cm . to 180 (L) x 90 (H) cm. with colors ranging from white, cream, gray, through blue, red and green proposing special textures such as grooved plates, the finish "in greca" or aesthetics presented in this document.
